Welcome to Gina's Design Blog Hop

Welcome to Kathi’s Creations on scrappycounselor.blogspot.com  As you know it is World Creativity & Innovation Week  April 15 – 21.

In my challenge I choose to do Glass flowers, a photo frame using Martha Stewart corner punches & working with colors outside my comfort zone, which are yellows, oranges & rust.

This is my creation.

This is a really fun technique that can be applied to anything. It may sound intimidating but it is incredibly simple! I used a Melting Pot for this technique.

Supplies:

Melting pot
Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel by Ranger I used Clear
Wooden dowel or stylist
Tweezers
Flower cutout layers
Buttons, & large brads

 Flower cut outs
 Finished glass flowers

Martha Stewart corner punch

Curl your petals by using your stylus or a wooden dowel.

Once the UTEE has melted, take your flower sections one at a time and dip them into the melted UTEE. Once you have covered the entire section, pull it out of the hot UTEE with your tweezers and let some of the UTEE drip off.
You are going to have to work quickly for this next step. Place your flower on your craft mat. It will harden fairly quickly however you will have a few moments where you can reshape your petals. Be careful not to burn yourself.
After all your flowers sections have hardened you will begin to put them together. You may find that as you fit your flower pieces together that you will need to use pop dots because they don't fit perfectly together. I used pop dots on some and squished some of the others together. Your petals won't break, but you will hear a slight crackling noise. This is just the UTEE cracking on your project. You won't see it on your finished flower unless you use mists or inks which will enhance the cracks. This is called the Broken Glass Technique; after you have glued your pieces together, add buttons, jewels or pearls for your flower centers and you're done.
The photo frame was created by using a corner punch (I used Martha Stewart) place the punch on the edge of the large circle & punch, Being careful not to put the punch all way flush with the end of the punch and the paper. And continue all around the circle. I cut out the center of the circle and continued to do the same technique on the inside of the circle.
I placed these techniques to create flowers & a photo frame that I added to a canvas layout with Gina’s laser die cuts, “Nancy’s Garden Ivy corners”, one small gate, and a lamp post with a hanging clock, all available at Gina’s designs store.
