Walking in a Winter Wonderland

The Spirit of Christmas
The modern Christmas, in which believer and unbeliever may join in feasting, is one of the triumphs of tolerance born of human understanding natured over centuries of trial and error.
Christmas is the feast, of not only man’s redemption, but of man himself. It is the feasting of humankind, because it releases – if only for a few days every year – emotions that a savage self-interest causes mankind, in the ordinary way, to repress.
At Christmas-tide tyrants grow benevolent – even merciful, misers spend, not only freely, but willingly, the fierce flames of religious and political prejudice die for a short while to a cold cinder; selfish memories are stirred by the recollection – tardy, but intense – of the neglected and the outcast.
For a few days, once a year, the atrophied souls of the grownups are filled again with that spirit which inspires the wisdom of fools and children.
So the history of Christmas, unlike the history of so many other human things, is consistently a pleasant one.

5 Christmas Cards

Good morning, Kathi here to share with you today is 4 Christmas cards I created using several of Gina's Christmas sets she has in the store. First up is this fun penguin card!

For the base of each card, I used a black & ivory cardstock. I ran it through the the big shot using a snow flake embossing folder. Each of the chipboard shapes  painted with white gesso, then painted with distress paint.

Once painted, the front of the penguins were then covered with white flocking. The Christmas bulbs are painted with stickles.

On this card the lamppost was painted and then covered with glossy accents. I used white flocking on the penguins the snowmen to give them dimension.

The berries are covered with red stickles, with a red ribbon tied on the left.

And last but not least, on this card the snowflakes are painted with white gesso and the bowtie is covered with glossy accents.

I used black card stock, the card was embossed with a cuddle bug embossing folder.
All chipboard was first painted with white gesso, then painted with white distress paint.  Let it snow & the snowmans hat was covered with a wet glue then covered with red distress glitter.

Altered Mason Jars

Hello, fellow crafters, today I am here to share with you two of the alterd Mason Jars I have created for a fall bazzar.

These are two of the Mason Jars,
I first placed the candle stick on the base of the mason jar, then colored the jars a light yellow, using food coloring & mod podge. Let them dry. Then I cut from graphic 45 paper 3 1/2" X 12" paper. One jar I used Old Curoisty Shop & the other I used the French Country.

I added a hand crafted flower to the center front of the jar, adding embelishments to the front of the flower as well as tucked in behind the flower. This jar I placed a key & lock from Gina's, then stuffing behind the flower, a dress form, an antique chair,  durby hat & a top hat & flourishes. along with tags from the paper line,  finished the jar wit a black ribbon tied into a bow on the rim of the lid.

Close up of the embelishments.

Jar #2
I added a hand crafted flower to the center front of the jar, adding embelishments to the front of the flower as well as tucked in behind the flower. as I did on the first jar.  Stuffing behind the flower, a dress form,  durby hat & a top hat & wings. along with tags from the paper line,  finished the jar wit a black ribbon tied into a bow on the rim of the lid, and trim on the top & bottom of the paper. The bottom trim is from Craftsupplies1. It is a box pleated organza trim.
